STORYTELLER: Ballet drew S.K. to the oldest storytelling art - DANCE. Her career spanned four decades of performing, teaching, choreographing, and directing. Over sixty of her original choreographic works were brought to life for theatre audiences in the United States, Canada, Bermuda, and Japan.
DIGITAL ARTIST: Since 1997 she has been creating original digital art using her photographs and Adobe® Photoshop®.
VOYAGE TO WRITING: In 2010, after she retired from dance, S.K. navigated her boat up the inside passage on a transformative seventy-five day voyage. For the next decade, she lived aboard her boat with her partner, as they cruised the waters of the Tongass coastal rainforest of Southeast Alaska.
Anchored in one remote, quiet cove or another, cut off from radio, television, cell phones, and internet, she devoted her life to photographing nature, creating digital art, catching dinner, and writing.
She now tells her stories through words with illustrations on the 'printed stage'.
ASHORE: S.K. is now reclaiming her 'land legs' in the high desert of Western Colorado. Today she is writing and creating digital art as deer peek into her studio instead of bears and whales.
Drawn from the beauty and dreams of fantasy, her imagined worlds and characters are different than most ~ always with more than meets the mind on first reading ~ as she continues her life journey as a storyteller.
